Own a piece of history. This one-of-a-kind ring is handmade in sterling silver and inspired by traditional Native American silverwork, with a beaded and concha frame surrounding a genuine Number 8 Turquoise gemstone.
Why Number 8 Turquoise is so sought after
Number 8 Turquoise comes from the famous Number 8 mine near Carlin in northern Nevada, where turquoise was first discovered in the 1920s. The mine became legendary for its distinctive spiderweb matrix: a fine web of golden brown to black veining set against soft, powdery blue to blue-green turquoise. It also produced some of the largest turquoise nuggets ever found.
Its striking looks made it a favourite of Southwest silversmiths through the 1950s and 1960s. Turquoise production at the mine ended in the 1970s, and the site is now mined for gold instead, so no new Number 8 Turquoise is being produced. Each genuine stone is a finite piece of mining history, which is why Number 8 is so scarce and so prized by collectors today.
