The mine became legendary for its distinctive spiderweb matrix: a fine web of golden brown to black veining set against soft, powdery blue to blue-green turquoise. It also produced some of the largest turquoise nuggets ever found.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIts striking looks made it a favourite of Southwest silversmiths through the 1950s and 1960s. Turquoise production at the mine ended in the 1970s, and the site is now mined for gold instead, so no new Number 8 Turquoise is being produced.
